OBJECTIVE
To prepare each athlete for competition with instruction and training in the following areas: skill development, team strategy, physical conditioning, psychological skills, nutrition, team cohesiveness, and injury prevention. In addition, to help athletes experience a collegiate-level practice, travel, and competition setting, to gain exposure to college coaches and to assist athletes in the college recruiting process.
PHILOSOPHY
The team philosophy centers on the development of individual skills: physical, mental and behavioral, and their progressive development toward team strategies and goals. A critical aspect of this philosophy is that the individual grows, shares and learns throughout practices and competitions. The coaches' role in carrying out this philosophy is in helping and guiding each athlete to be the best total lacrosse player and person she can be, as well as aiding in the college recruiting process.
PRACTICE AND COMPETITION GOALS
- To have fun and enjoy learning more about the sport of lacrosse
- To participate in between two to four recruiting tournaments throughout the year
- To prepare, practice and play in a collegiate style environment
- To represent Colorado at lacrosse events with the highest level of performance and sportsmanship.
NCAA Recruiting Rules (www.ncaa.org)
- General Correspondence (email and letters) is allowed between you and a college coach. You may fill out and return a player questionnaire in your Sophomore year.
- Phone calls are considered to be any voice exchange. General Correspondence is considered to be written letters, email, IM, fax, or text message. HS athletes may contact college coaches at any time. The college coaches are limited in when and how frequently they may initiate phone communication.
- Beginning September 1 of your Junior year specific correspondence is allowed.
- One phone call from a college coach is allowed in March of your Junior Year.
- One in-person off-campus contact is allowed in April of your Junior Year.
- In-person contact is allowed beginning July 1 after your junior year in high school.
- No contact is allowed while you are competing at a tournament. You and your parents should not talk with college coaches during this time. Protect your eligibility! A coach may speak with you ONLY if it is after July 1 after your junior year in high school AND you have completed play in the tournament AND you have been ‘released’ by your coaches.
